While in the South, I took a trip to visit relatives in Oak Ridge and on the way, we stopped by Dayton, Tennessee, site of the famous Scopes trial.

This is a site celebrated as a victory of faith over the blasphemy of evolution.

William Jennings Bryan has a big statue. There is little recognition of Clarence Darrow, who attempted to defend the evidence of science.

This is a pilgrimage point for adherents of "intelligent design".

Check out the classic film about the trial with Spencer Tracy, Inherit the Wind.
